in the u.s., three's company was not allowed.
it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.
the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

at luke 21:8 jesus is recorded as telling his disciples:.
"look out that you are not deceived; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, 'i am he', and, 'the due time has approached.
at revelation 1:1-3 we read:.
i never thought i would admit it, but i don't.
i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.
as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.
Good riddance, their departure is a fresh breath of air.
I enjoy honest debates - honest questions and honest answers. But I have little patience for subterfuge or fallacious apologetics.
however, i haven't found any evidence to support that belief.. have you?
if so please, show me the evidence that god exists, and i will believe along with you.. criteria:.
(1) you must specify which god you are talking about;.
Why is reality constructed in such a way that evolution tends to produce in some sense predictable, or recurring, challenges/outcomes?
-SBF
This is a loaded question - it's an attempts to limit direct replies to only those that support the questioners agenda. It's equivalent to asking, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"
There is no evidence that reality is constructed on behalf of biological processes. Rather, biological processes are one specific aspect of reality. We could easily replace your question with just about anything.
Why is reality constructed in such a way that it tends to produce:
It's as if there is something deep within the structure of the universe that tends toward the outcomes we observe as subjects/objects.
Have you not heard of physics? Cause and effect? Action and reaction? It's not something "deep within the structure" that causes outcomes. It is the structure that causes outcomes.
You're a bit like a guy who walks into a crowded restaurant and sees that a hundred people are all sitting in the dining hall and asks, "What is it that all these people have in common that they happen to be here at the same time? What is the common thread?"
Is it because they're all hungry? No, some of them aren't eating.
Is it because they all live nearby? No, many of them are from out of town.
Is it because they all did x, y, or z? No, some portion of them didn't do x, y, or z.
And you keep on fretting over the question not realizing the question is the answer. What they all have in common is they're all in the restaurant at the same time! And what brought each person there is entirely different and unrelated circumstances.
i was just reading through some posts and had a startling realization.. the comment that sparked this went something like this: why oh why when i started into this in 1989 did i not research the history of the wtbts?
etc....... i too was studying and moving towards baptism around that same time.
i got dunked in dec of 1990.. my thought.
And for every Jdub who leaves, it's another exjdub trying to bring them down because we're all angry.
-Skedaddle
An excellent point and one I hadn't really considered. The ex-jw community is certainly growing. And most of us are reaching out to our friends and families in small ways and big.
The more that leave the WT the bigger our community becomes. And the bigger our community becomes the more influence we have in helping others leave.
the internet is the archive for civilization.. watchtower cannot hide it's history.. are we seeing the beginning of a mass exodus out of her?.
No one joins the WTS because of facts or reason
-Simon
But we do leave because of facts and reason!
absolutely amazing how fast this technology is advancing.
at the darpa challenge last year the robots could hardly walk up right and it took them ten minutes to walk through an open door frame.
now they're running around outside and opening doors like a pack of velociraptors!
The end of the spider man movies says that all plots can be reduced to a single component: Who am I?
Personally, I'm hard pressed to think of a single story or movie that isn't about the ever changing nature of a person's (possessive and plural) identity.
cofty- perhaps you would like to teach us the "first thing about evolution".. truth doubter .
Really SBF? That's the "first thing" people should note about evolution? That it "resembles a religion"?
They shouldn't first note that evolution is a scientific theory? Or that it explains the diverse speciation we see on our planet?
They shouldn't first note that evolution is the backbone of modern biology? Or that it's used in developmental biology, ontogeny, microbiology, osteology, paleontology, etc?
They shouldn't first note that evolution is used to develop vaccines, antivirals, and antibiotics? Or that it is crucial component to epidemiology since it allows us to identify mutating strains of a diseases and sometimes even track the step by step transmission of that diseases?
No? We should just throw all that out the window and say "it resembles a religion"?
Is the first thing we should note about Christianity is how it resembles Madagascar? Is the first thing we should note about blue whales is how they resemble the Apollo Missions?
I swear SBF, every time I start thinking "well maybe he's not a troll afterall" you turn around and post something like this.
ever wondered how your post might read to someone who's new to this site?.
(may take you a sec to get the real acronyms that are being used).
well i've noticed a pattern where a lot of ostentatious peoples that talk about their tough ass tax troubles only relate it to it as a problem that's being perpetrated by the federal & democratic states.
I agree SBF. Though I do sometimes enjoy how certain members have hijacked the WTs loaded language and have made a complete mockery out of it.
